The first event of Hiraku Suzuki’s new project, “Drawing Tube”, welcomes guest poet Gozo Yoshimasu. The two artists will undertake an improvised performance with a theme that casts them into a search for the essence that lies between “Writing” and “Drawing”. The artists will interact (communicate) with each other to perform on a 60m long rolled paper spread out on the floor of the venue. These “traces” will be kept after the performance as a permanent exhibit during the Yamagata Biennale. What discoveries will we encounter through the performance between two artists that are dedicated in pursuing the possibilities between “Writing and Drawing”?
